Reloft ART Gallery presents Katya Scheglova's solo exhibition "The Off Season". The exhibition invites you to become a casual witness and immerse yourself in a carefree time of rest, where the count of days is lost and events slowly replace each other. For the new series, the artist developed an AI model, training it on her works. Then, having written a request for the AI model (prompt), Scheglova generated sketches that formed the basis of the paintings. This is how the "image of the image" appeared, continuing the plots and revealing the artist's method from previous series.
The features of Scheglova's visual language include the transfer of cinematic techniques to canvas in the form of framing and duplication of individual elements. Another important part of the portraits is the artist's distance from the people she depicts. Most often, these are random passers-by, whose images remain in frames from ten years ago. This distance was multiplied by working with the AI model - old photographs were transformed into new prototypes of people who never existed. In this way, the main feature of the portrait genre is violated - the psychological image of a specific person.
During the off season - nothing happens, all the features of the action are taken out of brackets. Only insignificant frames of memories from vacation and the faces of strangers on the beach remain. The hermetic journey is sealed in space so that, having made a circle in the exposure, you get to the starting point of the story - a train carriage. The journey from point A to point B becomes a time loop.

Галерея Reloft ART представляет персональную выставку Кати Щегловой «Мертвый Сезон / The Off Season». Экспозиция приглашает стать случайным свидетелем и окунуться в беззаботное время отдыха, где счет дней потерян и события медленно сменяют друг друга. Для новой серии художница разработала модель нейросети, обучив ее на своих работах. Затем, написав запрос для нейросети (prompt), Щеглова сгенерировала эскизы, которые легли в основу живописных полотен. Так появился «образ образа», продолжающий сюжеты и раскрывающий метод художницы из предыдущих серий.
К особенностям визуального языка Щегловой можно отнести перенос на холст приемов из кино в виде кадрирования и дублирования отдельных элементов. Другой важной частью портретов является отстранение художницы от людей, которых она изображает. Чаще всего это случайные прохожие, образы которых остались на кадрах десятилетней давности. Эта дистанция была приумножена при помощи работы с нейросетью — старые фотографии были преобразованы в новые прототипы никогда не существовавших людей. Таким образом нарушается главная особенность жанра портрета — психологическое изображение конкретного человека.
В мертвом сезоне — ничего не происходит, все особенности действия вынесены за скобки. Остаются лишь незначительные кадры воспоминаний с отдыха и лица незнакомых людей на пляже. Герметичное путешествие закупорено в пространстве так, что сделав по экспозиции круг, попадаешь в начальную точку истории — вагон поезда. Путешествие из точки А в точку Б становится зацикленной временной петлей.
