People of Mana series comprises 19 portraits featuring residents of the Mana Contemporary Art Center, where Katya Scheglova underwent a residency. Housed in a vast former factory in New Jersey, the center spans 5 floors, hosting studios and galleries. The inhabitants range from young students in the basement-dormitory to emerging artists on the upper levels. The basement sees lively art parties, and during the quarterly open house, the entire building transforms into a gallery, attracting crowds of spectators. Mana is a dynamic blend of creativity and diverse artistic endeavors and this project – collection of memories about these brilliant people.
The project was shown as a final presentation following a residency at Mana Contemporary Art Center (2016) and as a solo exhibition at Palikha Art Bar, Moscow (2018)
