MIRRORED HEART, PART I
Solo show
Curator: Andrey Bartenev
ZDES GALLERY, Moscow 2021

Complexity of human nature and emotional fluidity through a series of multi-figure portraits. Each individual is portrayed as a multifaceted being, encompassing tranquility, happiness, and grief – a composite image shaped by societal influences, personal desires, and external evaluations. Each person has the potential to be a hero in a "group single" portrait. Although Katya Scheglova's paintings have a figurative quality, she refers to them as abstract portraits. Her focus is not on individual subjects, but rather on the universal human experience portrayed in each piece. The inclusion of mirror panels in the exhibition adds reflections and distortions, emphasizing the project's underlying concept.
